NU GENESIS COLLECTION

This is work in progress. Objectives include a published book and a video presentation. The goal is to create a mythical foundation for what I view as essential changes within humankind: UPLIFT and Societal Metamorphosis.

This effort was catalyzed during a long phone dialog with Michael Gentry who values my often longish explications/storytelling. In our dialog (where Michael did ask questions and make comments) I brought together ideas that have emerged over many decades, but had never been assembled in a single presentation.  Michael suggested we attempt an audio recording of a repeat session. The next day I started composing “chapters”.

In this collection I post draft versions of some chapters.  I start with those most edited and which focus on the more explicit and useful aspects of this conjecture. Later chapters – if I include them here – may be but outlines implying much more work.

Ramez Naam on Nu Genesis concept:

Page 134, The Infinite Resource, the power of ideas on a finite planet, Ramez Naam. A highly recommended book.

"The combined global brain of humanity, mediated by the institutions of science and the market, and by our ever-increasing ability to communicate with one another, is more than just Darwinian. It anticipates problems and directs resources to solving them."
"It's as if, in the millennia before a meteor wiped out the dinosaurs, evolution saw the coming event and began to intentionally select for small, warm -blooded mammals that could survive the massive global cooling that followed."
"But, natural selection doesn't work that way. It was purely luck that early mammals existed and were well positioned to take advantage of the cataclysm that ended the dinosaurs."
"Not so our global brain. It isn't just reactive. .. Our global brain can also peer into the future, see the problems and opportunities that are looming and move to address them proactively. And our ability to do so is increasing with every year."

Naam clearly comprehends the potential outcome of the NU GENESIS conceptual scheme; even proposes an "action" prior to what I proposed: seafing the rise of mammals. Without a model such as feedpast bootstrapping, he rejects the possible option as impossible. He is right, "natural selection" doesn't work that way; but feedpast bootstrapping would be a process working alongside natural selection.  There is no scientific motivation to propose feedpast bootstrapping, so Naam feels it OK to apply Occam's Razor. More anomalies may accumulate in our scientific knowledge that might later call us to investigate the possibility of feedpast bootstrapping.  However, my call to comprehend the NU GENESIS conceptual scheme is motivated by our need, at this time of extreme challenge, for a new myth.

The issue today for feedpast bootstrapping is a matter of equivalent assumptions - it may or may not exist - with equal (zero) empirical evidence. Occam's Razor is not a scientific law. It is a psycho-social constraint to preserve status quoes, to dampen innovation. It is probably false when applied to significant scientific advances.

Wow this is a powerful start to what could shape up to be a compelling book, I would like to suggest maintaining a focus on likely "best case scenario" outcomes as a means of inspiring the future, from the possible future. Bravo my friend for the effort in progress!

@gdeepwater Glisten, don'tknow if this will get to you.  It took me over a year to see you comment.  There is so little action by others in this blog that I don't search for comments.  I should be getting emails when someone comments.  I do need a new blog that is better organized.  I regret that I haven't put more time in writing the NU GENESIS book.

Trying to keep up with the emergence of everything and new insights daily keeps me from ever initiating, let alone completing, a project.
